Open houses, open hearts.
Yesterday Mrs J and I went to the open house at the pet shelter where she volunteers. She nominated me to be the event photographer and I couldn’t say no. A pretty good crowd turned out to support the shelter. Fish were fried and eaten, a nice lady donated many platters of dessert cookies and cakes, they raffled off many donated items (I won a coffee cup!), and the bidding was lively at the auction of pet related items.
I took a ton of pictures but those can wait for another post, or several! What I thought was the feel good story in a day dedicated to feeling good was the story of the momma terrier who has adopted a wee kitty. The orphaned kitten was being bottle fed in the same room where Momma Terrier was feeding her own pups when shelter staff noticed that the dog was agitated and showing interest. What the hell, they set the kitten down into the cage with her and soon were tickled to see the kitten suckling along with the pups and all of them settled and happy.
