My day. It didn’t involve the beach.
So I often say that I’m not blogging as often because life is crazy, or I’m traveling, or work is crazy. I thought it would be fun to give you an idea of what that really means. Maybe give you an outline of my day:
It’s 6:30 am, I open my email and find the latest edit of a top-secret million dollar entertainment document that I need to read, edit and send off before I go to my day job.
My day job, which most of you know involves solar installations, and I’m lucky, because I love working in that field. I manage the guys, the schedule, the vendors, the customers and today find a way to get 5 customers who suddenly have leaks in their solar systems priority repairs (we had wicked winds a few weeks ago and the guys think this damaged all these panels and we’re seeing the results). Worst leaks first, we’ll have everyone taken care of by week’s end. Crisis averted. Oh, wait, everyone is out of business cards…
It’s 3 pm. Time to pick up bookkeeping side job paperwork, so I can do the accounts payable and receivables for two companies. This, believe it or not, is a mundane reprieve from everything else. I welcome the quiet time.
And then on to something new – I’m putting together a punch list for a new business. The partners like my work and want me to start their business off on the right foot. I pulled together a few things today, but it’s going to take some focused effort later in the week to really get them what they need. Oh, yeah, and they’d like my input on a commercial location.
Now it’s 9 pm and I have to at least look at my own projects. Projects you say? Yup. I have an offer to co-write a script based on a wild idea I had a few months ago. That I happened to mention to someone who likes the way I write. And since I like the way he writes I thought it would be an idea worth pursuing. There is a lot of homework to do on that before we can even put pen to paper (fingers to keyboard?) and that’s going slowly. I’m also working on a piece of fiction that I’m not sure what I’m going to do with, but Kirk Spencer has both inspired and taunted me with writing at least 1000 words on it each day and seriously think about self-publishing. This is what good blogging friends are for. How about a 1000 words every other day, Kirk? Some days like today, there isn’t a spare moment.
Kirk has also nudged at the idea of finishing my cookbook….it’s definitely back-burnered for the moment. Until things calm down.
Now it’s 10 pm. I never did get a ride in. There was dinner in there somewhere… a salad and too many tortilla chips. The phone rings. It’s someone else who is starting a business and wants me to put together the procedures and documents for the start-up….it’s a really good idea for a business and, well, it needs my touch.
Of course I say yes.
11 pm and I do a little blogging and put together coffee and lunch for tomorrow. Life is good.
Eventually I’ll get a recipe up. After all tomorrow is recipe exchange day. Until then…
BTW, just a little note, JeffreyW will be absent for a while and I already miss his touch here. He’ll be back soon.
