A Quick Flood Update with Video
It’s lightning and thundering right now, I’m hoping the rain holds off. It has been raining all day in various areas nearby, but missing us, so I’m grateful. I got to see a bit of the damage firsthand today. It took my breath away. I’m going to try and get out on my bike early tomorrow and see what I can without getting in the way of any cleanup.
The harrowing stories are starting to be told now that assessment and cleanup has begun. Unfortunately those downriver and east of us are now starting to see heavy flooding, wiping out entire small farm towns.
Yesterday the city sent up an aerial team to video the damage. I’ve embedded a few of those videos.
West side of town:
Downtown and the Industrial area, including one of the breweries – at the 4-5 minute marks is the start of bike path near my house, it looks like a complete loss:
There’s a lot more video here. I had to stop watching after a while…there was one video near the ponds that a lot of my photos are taken, where I cycle every day. The 4 ponds have practically become one large lake.
Anyway, hoping for a dryer week ahead. Meanwhile, I put on a big pot of Chicken Tortilla Soup , my version of comfort food.
