Mmm… an easy mushroom sauce

I always liked the mushroom Swiss burger option at one of those famous burger joints and have since developed a tasty mushroom gravy/sauce that works well for me.  More by accident than design the sauce has become a favorite topping for fries.  It is easy to make, just empty a can of sliced button mushrooms into a small saucepan and add beef broth that you thicken with corn starch.  I add various other stuff for flavor – just whatever comes to hand:  A squirt of BBQ sauce, steak sauce of whatever description, soy sauce, a dash of sesame oil, maybe a wee dollop of ketchup.
