This cherry pitting gadget gets five stars from Mrs J. She used smitten kitchen’s all butter pie crust recipe and it’s in the fridge firming as she works the cherries. The cherry filling is pretty simple, we looked at several recipes and went with this one. We skipped the almond extract, maybe next time.
It was so pretty I hated to cut a piece lest I mess it up. I let Mrs J get a piece first then I made my move.
Everything about this was excellent. The crust was a real standout, the fresh cherry filling was delicious, the vanilla ice cream divine. And I even found a spring of mint for a garnish.
