We’ve been disappointed in our tomatoes this year, we haven’t had many and most of those have split. I understand that’s because of under watering. Get a big rain after a dry spell and they drink so deeply that they literally split out of their skins.
I gathered a half peck of those and made a batch of stewed tomatoes, adding a bunch of peppers and onions.I sliced a couple of rib eyes and browned them with flour and dumped them into the stew. Simmered that for a spell and then poured it over elbow mac, added a layer of Parm and mozzarella and baked that at 400 until the cheese browned. It was OK, nothing to write home about but suitable for a post!
We may get some nice slicers yet.
