Mrs J made an apple pie the other day and looked for the corer we were both sure was around somewhere. No luck in our search, but Amazon offered many. I went with this one.The two apples were leftover from that pie and were excellent test subjects. I’m going to simmer these down into a nice apple syrup, sweetened with Splenda, seasoned with star anise, cinnamon, and nutmeg. I’ve added orange juice and sweet cider, and a few raisins that have been forever in the cupboard. I’ll stir in some corn starch in a slurry when the apples are done.
