It’s so easy to make a killer tomato soup. I started with a 28oz can of crushed tomatoes, added a few cups of water, a bit of garlic and chicken paste, garlic and onion powder, grated sweet onion, and a good sprinkle of Chinese five spice. Bring it to a simmer and let the flavors develop. I stirred in chopped basil and grated Parmesan on the top with a microplane. All ingredient amounts are “to taste”. You can smooth the soup with a stick blender but I was OK with the texture and did not.
