Nothing fancy, just take your basic upside-down cake recipe and substitute fresh figs for the pineapple or whatever. Our figs are slowly coming ripe.
All the ones I see online are made with round pans but I was afraid mine were a tad too small. I wanted to get by with one box of cake mix and succeeded.
These are 8″ pans and they worked well enough. I had enough batter to cover the figs but not so much that they filled the pans to the brim. Juices bubbled a bit around the edges but never threatened to bubble over.
I have one in the freezer, we’ll make short work of this one.
