Apple Pie

Mrs J made enough pie dough for two crusts.  Her plan was for one peach pie with conventional crusts top and bottom but she was easily talked into making the Martha Stewart crumble topping.  That recipe makes enough for two pies.  You see where this is going. One peach pie.  One apple pie.  Two enter, none leave.  That is the Way of the Kitchen.

I have a pot of veggie beef and barley soup simmering for dinner.  Looks like it will be a good one.

Mmm…Mrs J’s Famous Peach Pie

Mrs J has been looking at various recipes for pie crust lately, and came across this one yesterday from the Smitten Kitchen.  I have to say, after reading that blog a bit, my efforts here seem like those of a not particularly smart second grader.

You can see from the picture why they recommend you put a tray under your pie dish.  This one is pretty well contained but I’ve seen some that were not.

I guess I can console myself with the fact that I have Homer, and she does not.  Here he is, opining that I shouldn’t do that.  Not sure what “that” is this time.  He still has plenty of time to train me though, after all I’m just in second grade.
